What are our Summer Camps all about?

Join us for a summer of adventure at Minneapolis Gymnastics!

At Minneapolis Gymnastics, our Summer Camps are all about having fun! Our Summer Camps programming is for all students, ages 5-11, who need a safe, engaging environment for the summer months.

Your student does not need to be a gymnast at our gym to attend camps. Camps are a great way to get an introduction to the sport of gymnastics, but our camp curriculum is so much more than gymnastics training.

Our campers spend time playing, learning, and building relationships with other campers and our amazing counseling staff.

What does a typical day at camp look like?

Each camp day will start with an opening ceremony with all the campers. Throughout the day, campers will rotate through stations with their dedicated camp counselor, along with a pod of fellow campers. Rotations will include crafts, games, themed activities, and of course gymnastics! After two rotations, campers will have a short snack break, followed by more time for rotations, then lunch, open gym, theme time, and closing ceremonies! Extended hours are also available! You can choose to add morning, afternoon, or both to your camp registration. Whatever suits your family's needs!

Days will be packed full of fun!

Each week will be fresh and exciting as our activities will revolve around a new theme! Our daily schedule will allow lots of time for kids to explore, engage, and learn with the specific topic for that week. All of our themes  include gymnastics training elements, but are not limited only to gymnastics instruction. Check out a full list of our themed weeks here!

What is NEW about Summer Camps this year?

This Summer, we completely reimagined our Summer Camps!

1. Summer Camps are now a full-day experience instead of just 3 hours. With a more robust schedule, we are able to meet the needs of more families who desire a safe place for their student for the full work day! With extended hours available both before and after camp, we are able provide a solution to your unique scheduling needs! Friday camp programming (FriYAY) is also available for the first time this summer!

2. Each week now has a new, dedicated theme with age-appropriate curriculum that builds throughout the week, keeping each day fresh and exciting. Campers will work together, alongside their counselor and fellow campers, to create something that they can showcase at the end of each camp week on Thursday. Families may stay for that closing time to celebrate in all that their student is learning!

3. The cost of Summer Camps has also changed at a glance! The cost may appear quite a bit more expensive than previous years, and this is simply due to the duration of our camps being twice as long as they have been in the past. See below for a full breakdown of options!

Cost:

The cost of Summer Camps is determined by how many weeks you wish for your camper to attend. The cost per student is automatically discounted at checkout based on the number of camp weeks you register for.

The more weeks, the better the value!

  • What should I bring to camp?
Students should come in comfortable clothes for both outdoor and indoor activities. Bring a water bottle, a hat and sunglasses (if desired), a lunch, and a snack. Sunscreen will be applied to all kids before outdoor activities, unless we have received specific instructions from parents/guardians. If you need to bring anything else, we will let you know the day before! Please leave personal toys, stuffed animals, cell phones, and electronic devices at home.
  • What is our camper/counselor ratio?
Our maximum ratio is 10 campers to 1 counselor. We have an additional Lead Counselor to offer support when necessary.
  • Is lunch included?
Lunch is not included. Please pack a bagged lunch for your child. We will not be able to warm up any food, or provide refrigeration, so please plan accordingly! If your child forgets their lunch, they will be offered a camp-provided lunch at the cost of $15.
  • What age of kids can attend Summer Camp?
All kids ages 5-11 may attend.
  • What are Summer Camp hours?
Summer Camp runs from 9:00am-3:00pm, Monday-Thursday Please drop your student(s) off after 8:45am and pick them up before 3:15pm. Extended hours are also offered from 8:00-9:00am, and 3:00-4:00pm for an additional fee. If you need extended hours, you will select them at the time of registration.
  • What do you do in case of an emergency?
Our counselors are trained in emergency procedures and our Lead Counselor is certified in First Aid and CPR. In the event of an emergency, parents/guardians will be contacted as soon as it is safe to do so.
  • Are your counselors trained and background checked?
Yes! All of our counselors have undergone background checks and have received training to give our campers excellent care and programming.
  • What does drop off and pick up look like?
If you are registered for extended hours, please park in the parking lot and walk into the gym to drop off and pick up your child. For regular drop off and pick up after the first day, you will remain in your car. For pick up, a counselor will confirm your authorization to pick up your child and will call your child inside the building to come out. Please do not park and enter the gym building unless you have a pressing issue. Thank you!
  • My child needs additional support. What do you offer?
We are unable to provide 1:1 support for our campers. Your child is welcome to have a PCA attend with them, they will just need to pass a background check before their first day of camp. The PCA will be expected to cover all additional needs your child may have.
  • Do you have any options for older kids?
Yes! We have a Leadership in Training program for kids age 12-15. LIT candidates can attend camp like campers at the cost of $50/week and will serve as role models for our campers while learning leadership skills alongside our counseling staff. LIT’s will have the opportunity to help plan camp events and participate in camp activities. To apply for our Leadership in Training program, please follow this link.
  • Who do I talk to if I have other questions?
